A team of researchers from the Harvard Medical School of Boston have discovered a new cure for covering scars and making skin grafts for burn victims. The results published in the Journal of Surgical Research demonstrate the effectiveness of a natural glue activated by exposure to laser light. Instead of using chemical glues and unsightly staples for transplanting skin to burn victims, a natural dye called rose bengal has been discovered which can glue the flap of new skin to the residual one without side effects and without leaving scars. Two lozenges of skin were combined with a thin layer of natural dye and exposed to laser light for 15 minutes. The result is that we have obtained a fabric that is at least twenty times stronger and more resistant than that obtained after treatment with traditional glues.
